TV Program Analysis. In this assignment, you will select a topic that we have discussed in this class (i.e., parenting, adolescence, senior citizens) and describe how it is portrayed on television. After choosing your topic, you may view several episodes of one show (i.e., how parenting is portrayed on The Simpsons) or compare how the topic is portrayed on two different types of shows (i.e., how senior citizens are depicted in a soap opera and in a crime drama). Include the following information in short-answer format and post your analysis to your  Assignments Section:

  • The name of the television program(s) you viewed, along with the number of episodes watched (if you are analyzing only one show, it is best to view at least three episodes in order to gather as much consistent data as possible)
  • The topic you are analyzing (Infants, Children, Adolescents, College Students, Dating, Marriage, Parenting, Middle Age Adults, Senior Citizens, Death)
  • Examples of how this topic was portrayed in the show(s)
