·         Select a famous individual from the 20th or 21st centuries (think of people who you can find information on their childhood, and their personalities throughout life). Obtain faculty approval for your selection prior to beginning this assignment (send a note to your individual forum, this is just so I can make sure there will be enough information on the person).

 

 

·         Conduct research concerning the background of your selected individual to determine what forces have impacted his or her life from the viewpoint of developmental psychology.

 

·         Prepare a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper in which you address the following items:

 

 

o    Distinguish between the influences of heredity and environment on the person’s psychological development (from childhood to adulthood, what made him or her the way he or she is). Be sure to specify which area of psychological development: moral, emotional, or other.

 

o    What family issues or social support systems may have influenced the person’s developmental growth and adjustment? (think about family relationships, structure, etc.)

 

o    Select two different theories of personality and apply them to your selected figure, and answer the following question: How does each theory differ in terms of how it explains the individual’s unique patterns or traits? (be specific, name the theory, explain it, and then how it explains why the person is the why he or she is)

 

o    Explain which theoretical approach you believe best explains the individual’s behaviors and achievements. Make sure to explain why you made this choice.

 

 

·         Use a minimum of three sources and be prepared to discuss your paper in class.

 

·         Format your paper according to APA standards. Remember to cite all resources that are paraphrased. Avoid using quotes and do not use Wikipedia.
