University of Maryland College Week 6 Women Beauty Practices Discussion

Please read the course materials for week 6 and then participate in this discussion. Week Six opens out the “modern era” for the development of the identity, roles, and expectations for women that the USA is still debating. It will be helpful to look first at the brief outline of key developments since the 60s as defined in “The Women’s Movement.” Often referred to as the “second wave” of the movement, to distinguish it from the period leading up to Suffrage in 1920, this period sets the definition for reproductive freedom leading to Roe v. Wade. It is essential to notice the clear definition here–since Roe v. Wade is under such scrutiny these years, learning how the issue developed and why it was passed is important.
