The purpose of this assignment is to increase your awareness of cultural issues in movies and or documentaries. You are to select a movie or documentary for viewing. It is suggested but not required, that you select a film representing an ethnic group in the US. Also, it could be a movie about an immigrant group, a language minority, a sexual minority, or any other particular minority in our country. Attention it should be paid to accuracy in portrayal of the population. You are to critically analyze the film, for evidence of bias, stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination, and racial profiling. A final component for discussion is your reflection on the impact of the film and its portrayal of a culture on tolerance and acceptable in society. Write a page for comment about that.
