There are 5 Steps to Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.
I. Attention
In this step, you gain attention, state your credibility, preview your main points,
state the significance to your audience. You also give the history or background information of
the topic
you are speaking about. Provide definitions or insight to the organization.

II. Need/Problem
In this step, you state the need/problem of the topic. Here you should provide
research to back
up your claims. Also, think about specific problems affecting the main issue.
