We can perform or resist our identity. We often make decisions about which identities to perform based upon which contexts and relationships we feel most comfortable in. Take some time and analyze your own identities based upon the list of identities in chapter 4 of our textbook.

Then discuss

  • Which identities you perform and which you resist and why.
  • What identities do you assign to other people and what assumptions do you make about others’ identities? What are those assumptions based upon?
  • Finally, How do these assumptions influence your communication with others? no plagiarism please
