1. Create a metaphor or analogy that captures the essence of the major lessons learned in the BBA program (e.g., business administration is like . . .).
Discuss the single most interesting or surprising thing you learned in the BBA program, as well as what made it so.
The BBA program is like a toolbox loaded with tools. You never know which tool(s) you may need until you get to the job! Of course, as the job advances, you will need to expand your toolbox, with more tools and knowledge. When I started this journey, I thought, I will get my bachelors and run, I’ll have what I need. Well as a working adult, I see I have the basics. If I want to advance, my learning journey, my tools, will have to advance as well.
I think the most important thing I learned during this program is how important it is to invest in your employees. It’s imperative to have formalized training objectives and material. It’s also important to have continuous training for employees, and a way to measure the effectiveness of the training. Many companies look at the cost of the training but don’t look at the ROI.
2. Discuss how you will use the lessons learned in your BBA program to be more productive in your current (or future) career. Provide specific examples to support your response.
Predict what major issues this program will be addressing 10 years from now. Explain your rationale.
I plan to use the lessons and concepts that I learned in this program over these past few years to better equip me to perform my job. With all of the lessons learned I am also able to leverage my knowledge if I was ever going to start my own business in the future.
I believe that ten years from now this program will be addressing the same or similar issues that we covered today but more emphasis on technology and automation of simple repetitive tasks. Furthermore, ethics will always play a huge roll in this program and statistics is essential for those people wishing to go into the accounting, finance or statistics fields. However, the emphasis on technology will be the most significant change in the program moving forward as it is always evolving into something better, faster and more scalable for the world that we live in.
