For this paper, find outside resources to research a specific type of cancer. Read the article “Evaluating Information Found on the Internet.” This article discusses the importance of being a critical consumer of information. Although the article discusses Internet information specifically, the concepts can be applied to many types of information found in the media such as television, magazines, and even books.
Note that points will be deducted for citing Web sites such as Wikipedia. While these types of sites with user-generated content can be useful starting points for your research, they are not peer-reviewed, and should not be cited in college-level research papers. If you choose to begin your research with Wikipedia, note that there are often useful citations and links to reputable sources at the end of the entries.
