Identify two research projects outlined in the article by Davis, Gross, and Clancy (2012) that contribute to the quality of care. Evaluate how these two health services research projects contribute to the quality of care. Using the South University Online Library, select two additional journal articles with research studies that complement the ones you selected from the article by Davis, Gross, and Clancy (2012)

Evidence-Based Research and Quality of Care

Evidence-based medicine is defined as “the systematic application of the best available evidence to the evaluation of options and decisions in clinical practice, management, and policy-making” (Sultz & Young, 2011, p. 380). Evidence is the key to accountability, so if evidence for certain practices have been repeatedly demonstrated in literature to improve the health status and quality of life of the participants, then those results should support a change in process or procedure.

In Week 1, you analyzed the article titled “Building a Bridge to Somewhere Better: Linking Health Care Research and Health Policy” by Davis, Gross, and Clancy (2012) to identify successful partnerships with major stakeholders in the US healthcare industry. In Week 2, you recommended the trainings necessary for physicians shifting from hospital-based care to community care.

In Week 3, you demonstrated how evidence-based research contributes to health policies. In Week 4, you examined the use of social marketing as a communication channel in healthcare.

This week, you will examine how health services research projects contribute to the quality of care.

Write a 3–5-page essay in Microsoft Word format that includes the following:

Identify two research projects outlined in the article by Davis, Gross, and Clancy (2012) that contribute to the quality of care. Evaluate how these two health services research projects contribute to the quality of care. Using the South University Online Library, select two additional journal articles with research studies that complement the ones you selected from the article by Davis, Gross, and Clancy (2012). Describe these additional articles, focusing on how they contributed to the quality of care. In addition, be sure to include a minimum of five scholarly references in your support of your statements. Be sure to support your statements with appropriate examples.

magine you are a new graduate nurse working nights on a busy medical unit. You just received a new patient who needs to be admitted to your unit and you just finished medicating a patient with a narcotic injection with a dose greater than ordered. Clearly understanding medication errors may lead to patient injury and even death, explain why a clinician may choose not to report the incident.

Imagine you work in a high-pressure cardiology physician’s office and you are one of two medical coders. Your supervisor is very focused on the greatest reimbursement to satisfy revenue projections for the practice. As a result, you are asked to “up-code” billing. How can the pressure of acquiring the maximum repayment for services lead to manipulating or falsifying documentation?

Scenario 2: Administration of patient medications in the hospital setting

Imagine you are a new graduate nurse working nights on a busy medical unit. You just received a new patient who needs to be admitted to your unit and you just finished medicating a patient with a narcotic injection with a dose greater than ordered. Clearly understanding medication errors may lead to patient injury and even death, explain why a clinician may choose not to report the incident.

Scenario 3: Not hiring a qualified individual because of discrimination

Imagine you are a new human resources director in a nonprofit organization and have been pressured not to hire Middle Eastern candidates by the organization’s CEO. In the United States, discrimination against people based on their ethnicity, race, or cultural orientation is strictly forbidden under federal and state laws. Ethical discrimination may result in the breeding of ill feelings at work, as well as reduced productivity. To eliminate these ramifications, organizations need to put forth increased effort in curbing ethical discrimination in the employment sector. What are some interventions organizations can put in place to prevent discrimination?

Write a 150- to 350-word response for each ethical scenario. Include a title page with your name and your responses.

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines. Include a title page, an introduction, headings, in text citations, a conclusion and a separate reference page.
